Bar Humbug has been the relaxed and friendly heart of Bristol’s Whiteladies Road for the last 15 years, so we think we must be doing something right!

The ethos is to keep things low-key, informal and welcoming, which is fundamentally down to our employees. Down to the last man and attractive women, they all like working here and frankly, if we may say so, it shows.

The wines are well-sourced, there is an interesting and comprehensive array of spirits and the cocktails are superbly and elegantly presented. Alternatively, just sit and enjoy a cold beer - either way, we’re happy, but more importantly, we want to ensure you are too.

We are open from lunch right through to the late evening and in summer what could be better than watching the array of fascinating people as they stroll past, from one of the few sun terraces on the strip.

Or, if you’re not enjoying the two weeks of our great British summer, you can pull up a chair next to our popular real log fire. Should you still want to brave the cold, however and remain stoically outside, then blankets are available, both for fresh air and nicotine junkies alike . . . .

Bar Humbug is the ideal venue for your party or event.

Conveniently split into two main areas (technically known as 'The Front' and 'The Back' ) we can cater for any number of people up to a maximum of 150.

'The Back' room is perfect for any party size up to about 70 people and can comfortably seat 30. It’s right next to the main bar so service isn't a problem and at the same time private from the rest of the bar so that your group doesn't have to rub shoulders with the general public occupying the main bar. (We know how you all hate that...) This is FREE all week. Amazing! We're just happy to have you. Please call for details.

'The Front' is basically the rest of the bar and the two rooms together make up the whole bar should you have a larger party (anything over 70). You are able to hire the whole bar for any private function any day of the week (generally for no charge).
